How do I get involved?
There are many ways to participate in 21st Century Dads Honor Ride:
- Ride – the entire 9 days or lead a relay team.
- Donate – you can donate to an individual rider’s or relay team’s fundraising goal.
- Sponsorship – make an in-kind or cash donation and receive recognition for your contribution.
- Volunteer – there are a host of volunteer opportunities prior to and during the ride.
Registration and Fundraising Questions
How much is the registration fee for 21st Century Dads Honor Ride?
All riders will receive a commemorative ride jersey, water bottle, and swag bag. The $100 registration fee is non-refundable and DOES count toward a rider’s fundraising minimum. Registration fees will be used to provide amenities during the ride including: food, beverages, nutrition, medical supplies, police support, and mechanical assistance.
What are the fundraising guidelines for 21st Century Dads Honor Ride?
Full Ride – $10,000 or more (commemorative ride belt buckle)
3 Days – $2,500 or more (ride jacket jersey and swag bag)
1 Day – $1,000 or more (swag bag with rider jersey)
How do I fundraise? When are donations due?
Begin fundraising as soon as possible to reach your fundraising goal. Also, when registering, you create your own customized profile which allows you to tell donors why you are participating in the 21st Century Dads Honor Ride. Riders need to achieve 90% of their fundraising commitment prior to the start of the ride and all funds must be collected by June 30, 2017.
My company would like to become a corporate sponsor of the 21st Century Dads Honor Ride. What sponsorship opportunities are available?
Sponsorships are available to fit almost any company and budget. It is because of our generous sponsors the 21st Century Dads Honor Ride is able to donate 100% of rider-raised funds directly to fatherhood charities. We could not have an event with them! Why am I asked to provide my credit card information during registration?
Each rider must pay a non-refundable registration fee that does count toward the fundraising minimum. Additionally, by registering for the 21st Century Dads Honor Ride, riders are committing and personally guaranteeing that they will timely remit their fundraising minimums to 21st Century Dads Honor Ride. Riders are responsible for raising and submitting the appropriate fundraising minimum amount to 21st Century Dads Foundation before the set fundraising deadline (June 30, 2017). 21st Century Dads Honor Ride will retain the credit card information provided to pay the registration fee to guarantee the fundraising minimum.
If, for any reason, a rider is unable to reach his or her fundraising minimum before the fundraising deadline, the credit card provided will be charged for the unmet portion of the fundraising minimum. If the credit card charge is rejected for any reason, the rider will be held personally responsible for the unmet portion of his or her fundraising minimum.
What time does each ride start?
The 21st Century Dads Honor Ride will start at 7am each morning.
How do I get back to the starting location of my ride from the end point?
Each rider is responsible for making transportation arrangements to the start and end points for the ride segment they have chosen.
How much do I need to train for 21st Century Dads Honor Ride?
The 21st Century Dads Honor Ride welcomes more experienced cyclists, since most days include riding more than 100 miles. Train appropriately to your fitness level in preparation for the 21st Century Dads Honor Ride. All riders should be able to maintain an average speed of 15 MPH for the duration of their respective rides.
How many miles are there between stops?
Riders are expected to ride together for safety purposes. During the ride there will be a rest stops every hour or two for food, beverage, nutrition, mechanical and medical assistance. A SAG van will also patrol the route to provide immediate assistance if necessary. Law enforcement will work to ensure rider safety on the road.
How strenuous are the 21st Century Dads Honor Ride route?
First, remember 21st Century Dads Honor Ride is a RIDE, NOT a race. This means the group will ride at a moderate pace. Time will not be kept, nor are any prizes awarded for finishing first. That being said, all cyclists should train before participating in 21st Century Dads Honor Ride.
Where can I rent or use a bicycle?
The 21st Century Dads Honor Ride will have a handful of various size bikes to accommodate those flying or driving in. These need to be pre-arranged.
Which 21st Century Dads Honor Ride route should I choose?
All riders are encouraged to select a route which fits his or her abilities both physically and financially. All riders should be able to maintain a minimum average speed of 15 MPH for the duration of their respective rides. By registering for any ride, you are personally guaranteeing the fundraising minimum for that route.
How do I make a donation?
To make a donation online, click HERE. Search for a rider and make a donation online! Donations may also be submitted via check. All checks should be made out to the 21st Century Dads Foundation and mailed to the 21st Century Dads Honor Ride office with a complete. Click Here for mailing information.
Will my donor’s information be shared with anyone?
Your information is safe! Donor information will not be sold to third parties, but may be used by the 21st Century Dads Foundation for marketing purposes.
What do I do with a check given to me by a donor?
Checks should be made out to the 21st Century Dads Foundation and mailed to the address listed below. Checks and Check Donation Form should be sent to: 21st Century Dads Foundation, 1515 S. Grove Avenue, Barrington, IL 60010.
Can I make or accept a cash donation?
If you receive cash donations, please do not bring cash to the 21st Century Dads Honor Ride. Instead, retain the cash and write a check to the 21st Century Dads Foundation or take the cash to a bank and have a cashier’s check issued. Please DO NOT send cash through the mail.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes! Rider donations are tax deductible. If the donation was made online, you should receive an email acknowledging your donation immediately. Donors who mail a check will receive an acknowledgement letter via the email address provided on the Check Donation Form. If no email address is provided, the 21st Century Dads Honor Ride will send an acknowledgement letter in the mail for donations over $250, if a mailing address is provided.
